When we hear “personal operating system,” it is easy to imagine a place for calendars, documents, tasks, and AI assistants. I am interested in how these pieces could connect. But starting with a feature list can leave us with a crowded system and a user whose life feels no lighter. So the first question I want to ask is this: what is making a person carry too much in their head?
It may be decisions postponed for lack of information. It may be knowledge learned and then lost between apps. Or an important task repeatedly pushed below urgent ones. These situations differ, yet they point to the same need: a structure that helps people see more clearly, remember more reliably, and choose more deliberately. A tool matters only when it serves that need.
VO DUONG AI is where I am pursuing this question. Directions such as AI Academy, Companion, CKOS, and AI Workspace are at different stages of development or remain aspirations; I do not want to describe them as a completed ecosystem. What I want to keep consistent is technology’s role: helping people learn to use AI, develop their own ways of working, and build systems they can examine and adjust. A good assistant should not make users dependent on its apparent intelligence. It should help them understand their own work more clearly.
So I want to test each component with practical questions. What confusion does it resolve? Can people make better decisions for themselves after using it? Is the information they provide kept in context and treated with appropriate privacy? If the tool is turned off, do they retain what they learned? These questions may make an idea look less spectacular, but they protect its long-term value.
I do not yet know the final form of a personal operating system. It may need to change many times when it meets real needs. What I do know is that it should not begin with the promise that “AI will do everything.” I want to begin with people and the limits of their time, attention, and memory. If a system helps them carry less in their heads and live and work with greater clarity, it is moving in the right direction.
